SCADS, or the Summer Conference on Applied Data Science, is an annual conference hosted by the Laboratory for Analytic Sciences (LAS) at North Carolina State University (NC State). This conference brings together professionals from academia, industry, and government to collaborate on addressing significant data science challenges, particularly those relevant to the intelligence community. The primary focus of SCADS is to develop methods for generating tailored daily reports, or TLDRs, that provide concise, relevant information to individual knowledge workers. These reports aim to enhance efficiency by using artificial intelligence and machine learning to curate content specifically suited to the user's needs and interests. Research Focus: AI-Powered Network Traffic Analysis
Utilized Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Terraform to provision elastic compute cloud instances (EC2), gaining proficiency in Terraform fundamentals for efficient resource deployment. Engaged with various AWS services, including Lambda, Systems Manager Parameter Store, EC2, VPC, and the AWS Management Console, contributing effectively to cloud-based projects and enhancing cloud infrastructure understanding. Developed robust Python-based tests using TestInfra, creating a comprehensive test matrix for future reference and documentation. Rotated between Cloud (CLD) Team and CI/CD (DevOps) Team in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) setting, actively participating in standup meetings and PI Planning sessions using Jira and Confluence. Utilized diverse tools like Terraform, AWS, Python, Bamboo, Bitbucket, GitLab, and Microsoft Teams to drive project success.
