As the Director of Engineering Excellence at Exoticca, I am dedicated to fostering a culture of continuous improvement, technical excellence, and robust people management within our engineering teams. Working closely with chapter leads, the Software Principal, and architects, I ensure the effective execution of our technical roadmap and promote the professional growth of our engineering staff. Here are some of my core responsibilities: • Chapter Support and Development: I collaborate with chapter leads to enhance people management practices, provide career development guidance, and facilitate regular feedback sessions to address individual and group needs. • Technical Roadmap Alignment: I partner with key technical stakeholders to align our engineering efforts with the company’s strategic goals, ensuring that all chapters effectively address technical challenges. • Process Improvement and Best Practices: I drive process optimization and the adoption of industry best practices, leading initiatives that enhance coding standards and development processes across teams. • Performance Measurement and Reporting: I develop and monitor key performance indicators to evaluate the impact of people management and technical strategies, reporting findings and insights to the CTO and other stakeholders. • Knowledge Sharing and Training: I organize and lead training sessions and workshops to continuously elevate the technical skills of our engineers and promote a culture of knowledge sharing. • Team Collaboration: I ensure collaboration across platform and vertical squads, facilitating a unified approach to achieving engineering excellence and acting as a liaison to enhance team integration. • Mentorship and Leadership: As a role model in engineering leadership, I nurture and mentor potential leaders, fostering an environment of collaboration and accountability.
I have a proven track record of leading successful teams in creating and maintaining web applications using a variety of technologies, including PHP, Node, NestJS, React, MySQL, Elasticsearch... I excel at mentoring and coaching team members in Hexagonal and DDD architecture, Agile principles and values, and iterative-improvement strategies such as Retrospectives and 1-to-1. In addition, I have successfully grown a team of 3 to 17 engineers, including Frontend, Backend, QA, and DevOps profiles with T-shape skills, providing guidance and support to each team member while fostering an environment of collaboration and growth.
