I build platforms that change what a business is able to do. I have been doing it for 25+ years, from Yahoo, Vodafone, BT and Symbian to smaller organisations where ownership, adaptability and practical delivery really matter. The example that shaped me most was at Yahoo Europe. I inherited a mobile platform that was extremely fast and almost impossible to change, in a business that needed to serve more than 80 countries with different languages, partners and rules. So I initiated a new global platform. I built a coalition across the UK and US teams, researched every board member I would pitch to, and took a £2m investment case into a company where the typical project was closer to £30k. It was approved. My UK team proved the concept by delivering the FIFA World Cup 2006 mobile platform across eight languages and around 100 devices. That work contributed to three Yahoo Innovation Awards, a patent, and my promotion to International Architect for every Yahoo platform outside the US. It taught me that at senior level, architecture is the work of aligning people, money, risk and ambition around a future the organisation can actually execute. The diagrams are the easy part. Belief is the hard part. As Head of Technology at Thematic Networks I redesigned a legacy platform so the business could grow without the old cost curve, taking us from around 20,000 users per server to roughly 250,000 on the same hardware. In enterprise consulting I delivered a time-critical 5TB acquisition-readiness migration and modernised around thirty legacy applications. In all of it, I care about whether the solution can actually be built, maintained, trusted and improved over time. Today my focus is AI, placed where it actually belongs. At Inclined Labs I have built intelligent document processing, private local workflows for sensitive media, and internal tooling, all inside a governed modernisation roadmap. I use prompt engineering as an engineering discipline in its own right, for exploring solutions, shaping architecture and validating progress. The platform work I am doing now is AI-native by design, built to work with AI internally rather than having it bolted on. If you are building something ambitious and need someone who can shape the architecture, win the board, and still sit with the engineers and build, that is the work I do best. Open to conversations around senior technology leadership, applied AI, platform modernisation and strategic transformation, UK and international.
Working with Inclined Labs / Indoor Wingsuit Stockholm on platform modernisation, operational systems, and applied AI initiatives to support the company’s next stage of growth and international expansion. My role combines strategic architecture, hands-on technical leadership, and practical AI delivery. I have been helping define the target-state architecture, shape the modernisation roadmap, guide vendor and platform decisions, and design systems that improve operational efficiency while reducing manual effort. A key part of the work has involved applying AI in a responsible and business-focused way. This includes AI-enabled invoice recognition and management, AI-assisted business intelligence, workflow automation, and tools that combine existing operational data with newer systems to improve visibility, decision-making, and process control. I have also been using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Codex, and Copilot as part of a structured engineering approach — not just for code generation, but for solution exploration, architectural planning, phased delivery, progress validation, and building internal tooling within clear technical boundaries. Key areas of work include: Target-state architecture and platform modernisation planning • AI-enabled invoice processing and business workflow automation • AI-assisted business intelligence across legacy and new data sources • Vendor selection, integration planning, and platform decision support • Development of internal tools and frameworks to improve operational delivery • Governance, data quality, auditability, and practical AI adoption
Defined target-state architecture and modernisation roadmap for a scalable platform for international expansion. Established vendor selection criteria based on target platform architecture and roadmap. Guided vendor service customisation to meet specific requirements for the business. Planned legacy-to-new migration plan with minimal disruption to business. Designed and delivered AI-powered business tooling using ChatGPT and Gemini for workflow automation, operational intelligence, and business process acceleration. Built intelligent invoice recognition and management workflows using Google Document AI, including model training/tuning, validation, and structured data extraction. Developed private/local AI workflows for video translation and subtitle generation using Whisper and related tooling for sensitive media processing in local environments. Built privacy-aware corporate data analysis tooling using LLM APIs, with controlled handling of sensitive information and governed outputs. Created reusable internal tool-building capabilities using AI-assisted development within defined architecture, specification, testing, and phased delivery guardrails.
Engineered and launched new platform features including dynamic cashflow analytics and smart configurable alerts, enhancing platform scalability and improving user engagement in the property management sector
Long and short contracts for several companies, including Ryder UK (Preparing data for sale of company), Majority World (Establish new framework), Yutu - Created and ran a new team to create a platform for a university-focused Video/Social Platform
Ryder UK: delivered 5TB customer/operational migration supporting acquisition readiness. Ryder UK: Guided work through the vendors Unisys and Service Now for graduated decommissioning and appropriate data retention. Upgraded ~30 internal BSS Enterprise-grade legacy applications using incremental modernisation to improve reliability and supportability. Moving to a distributed platform for resiliency, and working with the IBM AS400 database.
