A graduated media studies student with a passion for videogames and fan culture. Combined with my shared interest for different cultures, (creative) writing and languages, I strive to combine my passion and interest to create a better understanding from a cultural and academic perspective for a lot of missunderstood concepts within the videogame industry and (fan) subcultures. Besides my passion for videogames, I'm also very interested in how culture relates to media. With my fondness for Asian culture and their languages, I invested a great deal of time, as a hobby and academic, to make myself more and more familiar with Asian cultures. With learning the Japanese language and writing for a non profit Dutch website called De Sushi Times, I hope to provide a clear and interesting inside to Japan and its culture, In 2019, I was able to study a semester in South Korea. This was a very amazing experience where I was able to learn and experience their culture. I hope to further learn and share my knowledge on Asian culture in the future.
As a member of Game Drive, I've worked with several indie games, all with different marketing strategies, communities,on-going projects, new game launches and more! To name a few • WW1 Game Series (Verdun, Tannenberg, Isonzo) • We Were Here Series • Escape Simulator • Tricky Towers • Rusty Lake Series My main focus was the WW1 Game Series, and worked as their community- & social media manager. I was in charge for all their social media platforms and their posts, their Discord server, came up with community/playerbase events to link with new marketing beats, hosted their booth at conventions such as Pax East and W.A.S.D. Additionally, I wrote the devblogs about the new upcoming content, helped out with the tech support & FAQ and was a directly line for the playerbase and the developers to make sure both parties knew what was going on and shared important infromation if this was needed.
Tasks included - Serving guests - Cleaning - Serving drinks - Managing reservations - Working at the cash register - Taking phonecalls
