Management & Engineering My name is Randy Stewart and I have worked as a manager, hardware engineer and software engineer. Having worked in both the technical and management areas has provided me a good understanding of what it takes to make a project successful. Being a part of design teams and being the manager responsible for roughly 1,500 government and contractor customers has given me the experience to anticipate potential problem areas and to understand the importance of maintaining good communications with customers. My employers have always had a high level of confidence in me and would routinely assign me the most critical or high-visibility tasks. I have a proven track record of project success, meeting or exceeding expectations, on-schedule and within budget. I have been described as creative, well-organized, enthusiastic and someone enjoyable to work with. My accomplishments have included: > Credited with turning around IT Support Department by improving procedures, providing training, improving morale. > Identified need for automated testing of buoy hardware and software payloads. Designed and built highly successful automated payload testing system. > Developed project plan, schedule, budget and resources required to run 24-hour operation in order to refresh every desktop computer under contract at Stennis Space Center. My group was able to accomplish this enormous and critical task on-time and within budget. > Chosen to be part of team immediately dispatched to Texas to provide support for Shuttle Columbia disaster. > Member of exclusive group selected to receive Lean Six Sigma training. Participated in three highly successful Six Sigma events resulting in cost savings and stream-lined processes. > Tasked with designing hardware and software for sophisticated agricultural research unit. > Tasked with designing and assembling high-accuracy thermal research buoy with wireless communications and wide array of marine and meteorological sensors.
• Part of team developing systems to read various sensors, pre-process measurements, and transmit from deployed buoys via Iridium satellite links. Systems are based on Texas Instruments MSP430 microcontrollers programmed using C code. • Designed analog and digital circuits for data acquisition system signal conditioning, monitoring and control • Designed and developed system to perform automated functional tests on new microcontroller-based payloads. Developed LabView application and data acquisition system to sequence tests, determine pass/fail outcome, and record results in an Excel report file. • Provide technical presentations to management giving overview and status of recent projects.
Freelance LabView Development, Data Acquisition System Design, Analog & Digital Design and Prototyping, Automated Monitor & Control, Meteorological Stations, Design System Enhancements, Six Sigma Process Improvement Events Project: Mississippi State University UV LED Illumination & Photo Data Acquisition Designed and built dual-band visible light detector with LED illumination source in support of agricultural research project. Utilized ultraviolet LED’s, and photo diodes with high gain operational amplifiers to apply specific band signals into a data acquisition system. Generated a custom application using LabView to record and display the data. Project: Fidelity Technologies Automated Unit Testing Wrote several automated acceptance tests using LabView to exercise and demonstrate compliance within specifications for DoD 3Kw generators.
