The IKS - Institut for art documentation counts as the leading media archive on contemporary art in Europe. Next to producing documentaries on international artists, we also develop digital strategies and curatorial concepts for museums and art galleries. Most of our documentaries were invited to international film festivals like Totonto, Florence, Berlin, Perpignan, Krakow, Calgary, Linz, Vienna or Dublin. Till today we did produce documentaries on 94 international artists like Thomas Ruff, Thomas Struth, Candida Höfer, Jörg Sasse, Elger Esser, Robert Mapplethorpe, Bill Viola, Garry Hill, Vija Celmins, Isa Genzken, John Baldessari, Franz West, Claes Oldenburg, Hans-Peter Feldmann, Tony Cragg, Otto Piene, Heinz Mack, Wernr Reiterer, Joel Meyerowitz, Stephen Shore: etc. Ralph Goertz, director of the IKS, has a strong expertise in German, British, Italian and American photography since the 1960s and did curate exhibitions such like "Joel Meyerowitz Retrospective", "Axel Hütte. Night and Day", "Two Rivers: Joachim Brohm / Alec Soth", "Women on street: Peter Lindbergh / Garry Winogrand" and the award winning show "Subject and Object. Foto Rhine Ruhr".
