I am in the research group of Dr. Nir Gov, in the department of Chemical and Biological Physics. My primary objective is to develop agent-based simulations that can model the collective motion of flying midge swarms. The simulations will be based on a modified gravitational interaction potential, where the midges will be modeled as self-propelled particles.
Under Prof. Tamás Vicsek, I am simulating Non-equilibrium molecular dynamic models(NEMD) using Python and Numba(GPU programming). My role is to perform the simulation and statistical analysis of the data resulting from the simulations and compare it with predicted/observed biological parameters.
Under the guidance of Dr Arijit Bhattacharyay, Department of Physics I simulated nonequilibrium dynamics models using Python. The model I have used to perform these simulations is Vicsek's model[Vicsek et al.,1995]. In this project, my role was to figure out how to create a more biologically realistic form of noise as a modification to Vicsek's model.
I was a research intern in the Theoretical Ecology and Evolution lab, Centre for Ecological Sciences. I learn about the multi-animal tracking system TRex[Walter and Couzin, 2021] and parameterized it for use on videos of E. suratensis schools. I also simulated fish schools using Python and OpenCV.
