Bucharest, Bucharest, Romania
I graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Bucharest in 1984. Since 1987, I have contributed to several research programs focused on pedagogy and educational software for K12 education. I am considered a pioneer of the Internet and school computerization in Romania. While teaching at the 'Dimitrie Cantemir' Theoretical High School in Bucharest (currently the 'Cantemir Vodă' National College), and with funding from the Soros Foundation for an Open Society, I established the first computer science laboratory in Romania. In 1993, I also installed the first Internet connection in the country's pre-university school system. I furthered my education by acquiring certifications and expertise in Youth Organization Management, Non-formal Education (Senior Teacher), Cisco Certified Trainer (CNAP), Senior Project & Product Management, and doctoral research in pedagogy, specifically focusing on virtual reality and transdisciplinarity in education. Over the past 35 years, I have coordinated 45 eEducation projects across more than 30 countries in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the CIS, serving as either Project Director or Scientific Director. These initiatives have earned four international awards from the World Summit on the Information Society (UN) in the categories of eLearning, eCulture, eInclusion, and eEmpowerment (2005, 2013, 2016, and 2018), alongside over 50 other European eEurope Award recognitions. I have published 56 scientific papers in the field of eLearning. My research focuses on the development of national educational projects, the standardization of digital content, cognitive gain through multimedia resources, virtual reality, and project-based eLearning. Major publications include: • '30 Years of Internet in Romania: People, Moments, and Images' (ICI Publishing House, Editor); • 'History of Romanian Informatics' (published under the aegis of the Romanian Academy, 2020, co-author); • 'Digital Encyclopedia Romania 1918 – People, Moments and Images' (2018).
