Worked in the Goldsmith lab designing and implementing experiments to study organometallic catalysis at the single-molecule level. • Built, aligned, and designed an optical table equipped for widefield fluorescence experiments including fluorescence anisotropy (polarization) and on-microscope electrochemistry experiments. • Developed and generated emulsions of micro-and nano-droplets of organic solvent in water to monitor organometallic-catalyzed polymerizations and a fluorogenic Suzuki coupling. Generated water in ionic liquid emulsions to monitor an organometallic-catalysed hydrogen evolution reaction. • Investigated different carbon-carbon coupling reactions to produce a push-pull chromaphore with air and water-free synthetic techniques.
Under the direction of Prof. Fran Webster - Developed methodology for the synthesis of small molecule spiroketal compounds via the directed Claisen condensation of lactones - Utilized mass spectrometry and NMR spectroscopy to characterize reactions - Presented preliminary results with a poster at the SUNY ESF Spotlight on Research Symposium, April 2019, titled 'Synthesis of spiroketal compounds via the Claisen condensation of lactones' - Recorded background and preliminary results in undergraduate capstone thesis, 'Synthesis of spiroketal compounds via the Claisen condensation of lactones'
- Completed eight-month long research-based co-op position in MIT LL Chemical and Biological Defense Systems group - Worked in a team to design, engineer, and use a microfluidic platform for the production of monodisperse alginate microparticles - Visualized polymeric microparticles with halogen and fluorescence microscopy Presented declassified preliminary results at Rochester Academy of Science Fall Poster Session, Nov. 10, 2018 (Poster title: Alginate Microparticles as Biosimulants) - Evaluated different chem/biosensors and worked with a team designing testbed architecture - Assisted MIT LL chemists testing field-ruggedized analytical instrumentation

Under the direction of Prof. Chris Nomura - Designed polymeric nanoparticles for targeted delivery of chemotherapy drugs - Characterized product particles by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), dynamic light scattering (DLS), and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS)
-Served as an undergraduate teaching assistant for SUNY ESF General Chemistry I Lab -Helped first year students develop lab technique and understanding of basic chemical principles -Delivered prelab PowerPoint presentations explaining course material to students -Oversaw and enforced proper lab safety procedures -Worked one on one with students to solidify understanding of material covered in class
