During my 8-week research attachment under Dr. Germaine Yong's team, I was involved in various aspects of scientific research and communications. - I supported the preparation of science-based presentation decks focused on nutrition and the gut microbiome for diverse audiences. - Conducted literature searches and compilations on emerging topics in women’s health and contributed to writing a section of a literature review addressing the relationship between the gut microbiome and estrogen regulation in perimenopausal women. - Was exposed to antimicrobial assay and sterile technique in the lab. - R programming to troubleshoot and categorize datasets involved in the REMEDY.
From July to November 2023, I had the opportunity to intern at Associate Professor Foo Jia Nee's lab, where I contributed to the development and optimization of the tandem2repeat experimental pipeline. During this time, I was involved in designing crRNAs, conducting PCR experiments, and performing primer design. This experience deepened my understanding of molecular biology techniques and enhanced my skills in experimental design and protocol optimization.
During my time at PA, I worked alongside senior management to develop and implement initiatives that strengthened community relations.
