Mission Statement Aequitas Theatre Company was set up as an alternative to typecasting or any casting based on looks. It is made up of a diverse and small group of actors who have decided to reclaim their industry and are thirsty for challenge and opportunity, reflecting their creative natures. These actors want to think outside the box and explore any uncharted territory of the theatre, adding writer, director, producer, technician, and designer to their list of playable roles. The purpose of this particular theatre company is to accept all shapes, sizes, colours, and creeds, and to begin to make a change in the way actors are viewed and treated, if only a local one at first. I have been working on creating a theater company for artists to collaborate creatively without working towards the goals of a producer but rather to the work of the collective group. I have organized and held auditions, created fundraisers for the company, and worked as a producer, funding some of the work out of my own pocket. I have also organized events and worked in a creative capacity as director, actor, and writer.
While still training, I supervised attendance for all classes, created a scene showcase program and power point presentation. I also enrolled and registered students for classes and took payments, writing checks if refunds were due. I gave a lecture to kids in a group about performing and taught a practical class for children when the teacher was absent, training me in drama education.
