Quintin Christian

About

Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Quintin moved to London after high school to study sound engineering and music at Westminster University. Quintin started his career as a Sound Engineer, with various experiences designing and managing stage productions, building custom fly rigs for live shows, and serving as a technician, sound engineer, and music director. Passionate about the social impact of design and construction, Quintin began studying eco-design specialties, including Superadobe, permaculture, and renewable energy systems. Finally, Quintin founded the nonprofit Eco Domes Africa in 2017 (an organization that provides training and project management to sustainable, community-driven food and building projects) And led many socially impactful construction projects, including a sound healing and meditation dome in Bali, the Langbos Children's Centre in South Africa, and the Fumba Town children's playground in Zanzibar.

Eco Domes Africa projects have incorporated design elements including rainwater harvesting, grey, and black water recycling, solar power, and permaculture gardening, while also training local teams who have gone on to complete additional construction projects. Currently, Eco Domes Africa is working with renowned architecture firm Richlabs Architects in South Africa to design innovative, eco-friendly housing prototypes. Together, their goal is to combine traditional African architecture with new technologies to create culturally relevant designs that are low-cost, energy efficient, and empowering to local communities
