Macroeconomic and financial markets analysis for our client, Burgan Bank Group (the second largest lender in Kuwait with subsidiaries in Turkey, Algeria, Iraq, Tunisia and Jordan, owned by KIPCO, a leading regional investment company). The products of the research department covered economic developments and the macroeconomic outlook for G3, emerging markets, MENA and GCC countries.
I led macroeconomic and strategy research for investment decision-making and clients: global macro analysis, asset allocation recommendations, GDP forecasting, quantitative macro and political leading indicators and country and sector analysis, for 21 countries in Asia, GCC, United States, euro zone and Japan. We translated macro and policy turning points into investment recommendations, while taking into account economic and political risk. KCIC/Asiya Investments invests in public and private equity in Asia with $1.3 billion AUM.
Advised the head of economic affairs and senior city managers on the preparation of economic analysis and policy implementation in the fields of economic development, employment, tourism, innovation and technology, international promotion, investment attraction and commerce. Coordinated research analyzing drives of investment in the city: human capital stock, sporting events, immigration, office space market, development of infrastructures, R&D spending, public sector efficiency, presence of specialized sectoral clusters and major international business schools. Supervised research on income distribution, labour market, migration trends and geographical distribution of the economic activity in the city of Madrid. The department managed 600+ staff and a budget of €200M+.
Contributed macroeconomic, political and sector analysis for a number of products in the fields of investment, public finance, and macroeconomics Led the costing and prioritization of the 2006/2010 poverty reduction programs of the Lao government and prepared the forecast for the Lao PDR “Medium Term Expenditure Framework 2006/10”. Elaborated the monitoring and evaluation system of the “Poverty Reduction Strategy Credit” 2006-2009, which delivered $33m of budget support up to that date.
