ECI is an innovation network where scientists of different universities collaborate with companies and financial institutions. The ECI was started by Prof.dr.ir. Guus Berkhout, Chair Innovation Management at Delft Technical University and Prof. W de Ridder, Chair of Future Studies at Twenthe Technical University. Innovation is much more than R&D: it entails the fusion of technical possibilities and societal preferations. No more linear pipeline innovation, but a cyclic, creative non-linear process, forging alliances between commerce, production, market and social sciences. We start with global trend analysis to get a feel for the type of product-market-technology combination that is feasible, combine that insight with political realism, decision making power and financial leverage to create viable solutions.
