I am a microbiologist and laboratory scientist with an MSc in Biomedical Sciences and a BS in Microbiology, with experience spanning molecular biology, clinical diagnostics, research, and healthcare data analysis. What drives me is simple: I enjoy solving scientific problems, learning quickly, and contributing to work that has real-world impact. My MSc dissertation was awarded Distinction and focused on gut microbiome changes in a murine alopecia areata model, exploring the gut-immune axis in autoimmune disease. I also presented this research at the Northern Skin Research Club Flash Presentation Session at the University of Bradford. During my MSc, I gained hands-on experience in CRISPR-Cas9 guide RNA design, PCR, Western blotting, cell culture, DNA/RNA isolation, Bradford assays, primer design, and omics frameworks. Before this, I completed clinical laboratory internships where I worked in a BSL-3 tuberculosis lab at Fatima Jinnah Chest Hospital, performing acid-fast staining, microscopy for Mycobacterium tuberculosis, MGIT operation, and GeneXpert PCR testing. At South City Hospital, I gained additional experience in clinical microbiology, including urinalysis, culture work, antibiotic susceptibility testing, and biochemical identification. My experience also extends beyond laboratory work. At Yasin Hospital, I supported clinical research through patient coordination, informed consent, blood processing, SPSS analysis, staff training, and audit documentation. At the National Incubation Centre, I led a research project on algae-based wastewater treatment and presented the project at an Investors’ Summit. I am also a co-author of three peer-reviewed publications, including two journal articles and a book chapter focused on virology, infectious diseases, and genomic epidemiology. I graduated as a Gold Medalist in my BS degree and served as a Student Representative during my MSc. I’m currently seeking opportunities in microbiology, laboratory science, biomedical research, NHS clinical research, and healthcare data analysis where I can continue learning, contribute meaningfully, and grow within ambitious teams. Managed all day-to-day administrative operations for a creative production company, acting as the primary client contact. Maintained organised records and filing systems for contracts, invoices, and client documentation, demonstrating data management and organisational skills transferable to research coordination. Prepared, processed, and tracked invoices and financial correspondence, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
Prepare, organise, and maintain laboratory equipment and materials for GCSE and A-Level Biology, Chemistry, and Physics practicals, ensuring accuracy and safety across all sessions. Ensure full compliance with COSHH regulations, health & safety protocols, and safe chemical storage, handling, and disposal procedures. Manage stock inventory and coordinate equipment maintenance. Maintain detailed records including risk assessments, chemical usage logs, and equipment calibration documentation.
Prepared microbiological culture media in a regulated commercial laboratory, ensuring batch sterility, consistency, and traceability. Applied strict aseptic technique throughout media preparation, pouring, and storage workflows in a GLP-compliant environment. Operated and maintained autoclaves; adhered to sterilisation, decontamination, and appliance safety protocols. Contributed to quality control checks in line with ISO standards; maintained batch records supporting audit-readiness. Worked within a fast-paced, deadline-driven regulated environment producing media for food, pharmaceutical, and environmental testing.
Supported children and young people with special educational needs in structured learning and activity sessions. Developed adaptive communication, patience, and safeguarding awareness, skills relevant to patient-facing NHS research environments.
Prepared high volumes of microbiological culture media daily including agar plates, selective media, and broth formulations for multiple client sectors. Applied rigorous aseptic technique and maintained sterile working conditions across all media preparation tasks. Conducted quality checks on prepared batches; escalated non-conformances and maintained GLP compliance throughout. Operated autoclaves and sterilisation equipment; maintained calibration and cleaning logs to schedule. Collaborated in a team environment to meet high-volume daily production targets while maintaining quality standards.
