Polyols Project – Unlocking the potential of the food industry’s bio-wastes through their multi-variant valorization into sweeteners and bio-fuels. WP3 - Experimental valorization of bio-oils obtained from hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) of bio-wastes into bio-fuel and bio-hydrogen through vacuum distillation and residue thermo-cracking, with analytical analyses of products (e.g., GC-MS/FID). Role: ▪ Co-initiated the project, co-wrote and successfully defended the proposal, supporting project management by coordinating task execution and mitigating associated risks. ▪ Led works on the development of the novel route of waste-derived bio-oil conversion and refining into bio-chemicals and bio-hydrogen. ▪ Conducted critical evaluations of the solution's applicability, focusing on the business efficiency and needs of the commercial project partner.
ProGrün Project (Leading) - Sustainable farming with the conversion of grass biomass into protein-rich feed and bio-chemicals (on-farm bio-refinery in practice). Grün Pro Hen Project (Supporting) - Sustainable farming with the conversion of grass biomass into protein-rich feed for laying hens. Grace Project (Supporting) - Advancing sustainable bioeconomy by enabling large-scale cultivation of miscanthus and hemp on marginal lands to produce innovative biobased products (working within the WP on 5-HMF production upscaling). Role: ▪ Planned and divided tasks, managed time and available resources, ensured effective document and information flow, handled internal and external communication, and maintained high project visibility. ▪ Controlled the budget, provided technical and financial reporting to funding institutions, ensured documentation compliance, managed public tenders, purchases, and external services ▪ Designed, fitted, and built a new demo-scale production installation (100 kg/h) for grass-protein isolation in the Biorefinery Technology Centre (brownfield development), coupled the installation to the existing platform bio-chemical production (5-HMF, furfural) ▪ Supervised production campaigns (2x 4-month, 2 shifts/day), ensured feed supply, product storage (biologically unstable), and processing, onboarding, and managed workers (21 student researchers of various backgrounds in total), ensured OSH, and fostered a friendly work environment ▪ Assessed process performance, summarized and critically analyzed results, prepared TEA and input data for LCA, and developed a process up-scaling plan in collaboration with business partners
GreenCarbon Project – Tailoring carbon materials from bio-wastes through sustainable production pathways. (MCSA-ITN, H2020-EU) Role: ▪ Critical evaluated of data from other project partners (6 entities) using statistical tools (ANOVA, PCA), and established a reliable prediction model (MLR) for carbon material properties based on biomass characteristics and pyrolysis conditions from the obtained data ▪ Developed a comprehensive CFD model for single-particle wood pyrolysis to predict porosity changes (in COMSOL™), validated it with data from own experiments and a thorough literature review ▪ Streamlined and optimized administrative processes through the implementation of a Microsoft SharePoint-based system
