I am a Professor of Dermatology and Venereology and senior attending physician at a German university hospital, combining clinical leadership with translational research. My work focuses on generating real-world evidence for the responsible integration of digital technologies into dermatologic care. This includes the development and validation of digital tools and digital biomarkers for research and clinical practice. I am particularly interested in how artificial intelligence, wearables, advanced imaging, and other data-driven approaches can be rigorously evaluated and translated into clinical practice to achieve measurable patient benefit while preserving structured clinical decision-making. Since 2014, I have led an independently established, fully third-party funded interdisciplinary research group at the interface of dermatology and data-driven medicine, focusing on the development and validation of digital tools, artificial intelligence, and computational approaches for research and patient care. My long-term goal is to build sustainable academic and clinical structures that combine scientific rigor, digital innovation, and high-quality patient-centered care.
