About

Retired Professor of Health and Wellbeing at the University of Staffordshire. I was Research lead for the School of Health and Social Care - teaching, facilitating and developing the research culture across the School. My research areas were perinatal mental health, patient and public involvement and EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques). I am the author of ‘Making the Case for EFT and Energy Psychology: Designing, Conducting and Publishing Case Studies’. I am a National Teaching Fellow and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I have a teaching and learning in Higher Education qualification from Keele University. I was also Module Lead across a range of Health and Social Care Modules and contributed to a range of Nursing and Midwifery Awards. I have previously worked at Keele University, Strathclyde University and Glasgow University undertaking a range of research roles. I was also previously a Primary and Community Research Facilitator for the West Midlands NHS Executive with responsibility for developing research skills, knowledge and awareness within primary and community care practitioners. I spent four years as Head of the Centre for Health Policy and Practice at the University of Staffordshire, taking the Centre from its inception to a flourishing Centre producing nationally and internationally leading research. I have a PhD from Keele University, Department of Postgraduate Medicine in ‘The cost and effectiveness of two alternative approaches to the treatment of postnatal depression’. This innovative cost-effectiveness analysis was instrumental in commissioning perinatal mental health services locally and nationally. I am a Clinical Hypnotherapist, Advanced EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), Matrix Reimprinting and Emotion Code Practitioner. I am a member of EFT International research committee (Former Chair), leading on EFT research and the inaugural EFT Scientific Symposium at Staffordshire University.
