I am a third-year Pharmaceutical Sciences major at The Ohio State University, aspiring to become a psychiatrist who integrates science, research, and advocacy into patient-centered care. My research in cardiotoxicity has taught me that the heart is the gateway to everything in the body—a metaphor that guides how I see the mind as the gateway to how we experience the world. My work as a hospital pharmacy technician reinforced that healing is never just about treating a diagnosis; it is about listening to the inward story of each patient and recognizing the social determinants that shape their health. Beyond the lab and clinic, I have led initiatives in diversity, equity, and mental health advocacy, believing that representation and empathy are as essential to medicine as pharmacology and physiology. Just as the heart sustains the body, the mind sustains the spirit. I want my work in psychiatry to nurture both by learning from every patient’s story and weaving together science, empathy, and cultural awareness to create care that truly sees the whole person.
