Chief Executive of Students' Gymkhana IIT Kanpur (elected as leader of student union) A roller-coaster ride with some of the most passionate co-executives. Key focus area apart from general functions of gymkhana: Pursuing policies to encourage student entrepreneurial activities (deferred placement policy, etc), re-defining management regulation for extracurricular events (festival finances, etc) & facilitation of other key student-led initiatives (general body resolutions for certain central govt & institute decisions, infra development for eateries, mentorship programs, hobby groups, etc).
Elected with a 2/3rd majority as the Convener of body comprising of all hall representations and student nominees. One of the most exciting journeys in facilitating green initiatives, leading smooth hall shifts of (~2.5k students, largest shifting until then) and leading matters of interest to multiple halls of residence. * Took in several green initiatives (installation of solar panels, pilot for bio-composting etc) * Developed hall allocation policy of all institute students (~7k) * Facilitated resolution of key student-admin issues in a 2 hostels Amid a year full of turmoils for the student community; was fortunate to have beside me some of the most driven individuals on campus. Definitely one of the best councils (united in crisis, clear in resolve, determined towards common goals) anyone could hope for as a convener!
