Some of my tasks are: Keep all dedicated servers running, which involves monitoring, improvement and tuning of virtual and physic servers and their operating system and installed services. Operating system is debian and some of installed services are the LAMP stack or munin and nagios for monitoring and alerting. Next, I'm in charge of clustered and scalable solutions of the company. Basically nginx load balancing with or without ssl-offloading, basic pacemaker clustering for HA active-active RabbitMQ cluster or HA nfs storage (built with drbd), mysql cluster with replication and some heartbeat/lvs HA balancing solutions. I have the pleasure to work exclusively with open-source solutions.
Administrating linux servers with Ubuntu Server, CentOs and Debian distributions. Servers are configured to run as queue, jabber, web and storage servers using RabbitMQ, Ejabber, Apache, Lighttpd, Samba, Git, DRBD software along others. Managing central configuration with puppetserver and git. Automation scripting in bash perl and python.
Operations department. My daily task was checking and taking actions on windows and unix (HP-UX) operating system alerts and hardware fails, setting up and monitoring backing up solution from HP (HP Ultrium tape robot with DataProtector software) and attending incident/maintanance requests via ticketing in siebel software.
