Developed strategic directon
The mission of the Canadian Federation of Pensioners (CFP) is to actively promote the interests of Canadian pensioners generally and in particular to advocate on behalf of past, present and future Canadian members of defined benefit workplace pension plans whose plans and retirement security are under attack. The CFP was formed in 2005 in response to concerns by the founding pensioner groups that provincial and federal legislation governing the rights of pensioners during insolvencies provided inadequate protection for the pension promises that were made to them while they were working and on which they rely. Today, the CFP directly represents over a quarter million retirees through its affiliated retiree associations, and over a million Canadians via the family members who depend on those pensioners for their support. The CFP currently has 23 member retiree groups from both provincial and federal jurisdictions, whose members have been impacted by some of Canada’s most extensive and highest profile restructurings over the last two decades. The CFP is a grassroots organization run by members of it’s pension plans associations for the benefit of all pensioners in those plans. We also advocate with governments, industry and private organizations for changes to regulations and laws to enhance protections for pensions for all Canadians.
Built out a website for an Edmonton firm. Negotiated with the Alberta customer and the Indian supplier to get a good result. Despite the original deal was not very clear.
A global IT strategy director role in the Aftermarket Business Unit (warranty, service, parts, warehousing, etc) with an IT budget in excess of $50 million annually in an outsourced IT services environment supporting a multi-billion dollar global business. • Created the strategy for and led the design and implementation of a global IT organization transforming many local unique/regional structures and management processes to single global model • Delivered direct business benefit including improving the acquisition and deployment of capital resulting in an increase in funding for new business capability and improved ROI • Negotiated consensus across a diverse group of stakeholders including internal business and IT organizations as well as suppliers from all global regions • Provided strategic insight to various business initiatives such as a simpler, less expensive, and quicker to implement alternative to a team charged with managing a divestiture
As a special assignment in a global IT security officer role resolved a complex business critical SOX audit issue leading a team that spanned four companies, three continents and several countries and cultures; implementing permanent corrective action both modifying existing as well as implementing new IT sustain processes.
Led a global project team of over 50 internal and external resources through initial bid preparation, bidder selection, bid evaluation, award, and transition to re-source IT sustain and associated new development activity for 600 applications in an outsourced IT services environment. A contract value in excess of $300 million. • Moved from dozens of suppliers, hundreds of local contracts, to one global contract, one supplier • Delivered cost savings > 10% and overall improved service levels
