I am a senior at Clemson University studying Plant and Environmental Sciences with a concentration in Agronomy. Currently I work as an undergraduate research assistant in a lab at Clemson University where I help with a PhD student’s experiments. It requires me to have various laboratory skills and is teaching me essential research skills. I plan to have a future in agronomy, crop consulting, and/or a soil research position. I am hoping through my internships and job opportunities I can to start building my experience as an environmental scientist, crop consultant, and Agronomist. I always enjoy learning new skills that are beneficial for my future work in agriculture.
- Requires ability to work outside in various weather conditions. - General landscape maintenance work: pulling weeds, cleaning the area of leaves and debris, planting annual/perennial flowers, some tasks require being able to identify and then remove invasive species. - Must be able to do individual work as well as work with others to complete tasks, be prepared to do something different everyday. - Requires being able to drive various utility vehicles like the Polaris Ranger and Daihatsu Mini Dump Trucks.
- Helped prepare horses for pulling carriages in downtown Charleston. - Requires skills like being able to talk with tourists and providing them with information on the horses and of downtown Charleston. - Wake up and start work by 6:00am to get the horses ready for the day, including feeding, bathing, and dressing. - Unloading feed and bedding, as well as taking temperatures of horses and emptying their diapers after every tour, and cleaning stalls. - In our downtime we clean the barn and make sure things are organized and provide the ticketing office with snacks and water if they are running low on stock.
- Worked within a team to manage inventory of goods and distribution to retail outlets. - Ensured all incoming inventory was accounted for, labeled, and stored in appropriate locations. - Provided quality control inspection on all incoming inventory and made sure rejected goods were returned to supplier. - Team was responsible for Just in Time distribution and delivery of merchandise to retail outlets. - Managed receipt and delivery of custom orders to customers. - Performed other miscellaneous tasks in conjunction with owner of the company.
- Maintaining knowledge of all items in shop to properly aid customers. - Organizing and maintaining the storefront, while also paying attention to customers needs. - Communicating between different stores to transfer, hold, or ship different products for customers. - Restocking shelves, manning the register, and answering phones. - Be able to work in a busy environment during the seasons in order to maintain a good customer flow at the register and in/out of the store.
