With an MSc in Control of Infectious diseases and a PhD in molecular and point-of-care diagnostic methods for Chagas disease, I have a strong background in field interventions for the control and elimination of infectious diseases. I have worked in several programmes and countries, and my main focus are Emerging and Neglected Tropical Diseases as well as Pandemic Preparedness and Response. At the SORMAS team at the Epidemiology Department of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, I managed international projects funded by donors including GIZ and EU, among others. The SORMAS (Surveillance Outbreak Response Management & Analysis System) platform is an open source digital tool already established in several countries worldwide. At the same department, I have been in charge of leading the MuSPAD team during the COVID-19 pandemic. The MuSPAD study aimed at finding out the actual COVID-19 seroprevalence in the population to better understand possible under-reporting of infected individuals to be able to inform health policies to control the COVID-19 pandemic. My tasks include: - Leading the MuSPAD team and implementation supervision - SORMAS strategic project technical planning - Communication with SORMAS partners - Provide technical advice to partners - Budget and contracts monitoring and follow-up - Preparation of SORMAS training materials
This role includes the management of the GFA service packages for the GIZ "Regional Support Programme for Pandemic Prevention in the ECOWAS Region". More specifically: • Management of field operations in Nigeria and focus countries (Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Benin and Togo) • Human resources management: supervision of the team in Abuja and pool of short-term consultants • Financial management and administration: preparation and follow up of budgets; supervision of administrative tasks • Report writing an d Monitoring & Evaluation of the project indicators and outputs • Direct communication, coordination, preparation and adaptation of the operational plan together with the GIZ Head of programme • Coordination with stakeholders and relevant partners in the ECOWAS Commission, WAHO and RCSDC and the stakeholders from partner countries relevant for the implementation of activities • Networking and Collaboration with institutions in the region relevant to the topics of Risk communication, Inter-Institutional Communication and Coordination, Human resources strengthening and One Health • Provision of strategic advice and coordination with the training institute (Institut Régional de Santé Publique, Benin) for institutional development and anchoring training courses • Supervision of development of blended learning courses, training of trainers and trainings in focus countries, as well as the supervision of the implementation hackathon on risk communication and mentorship
