About

Digital strategy - Product management - Stakeholder management - Research - Innovation - Design Thinking - Service Design Pieter is a true T-Shaped person. He’s holding a Ba in Industrial Design (1992) combined with an MBA (MDM, Design Management) (2011) and works in the digital field since 1998. Trained as an industrial designer, he has a clear focus on ‘what the design of products or services should do for clients, stakeholders and end-users’.
 Pieter is curious, solution-driven and takes a holistic view on design-related topics, such as digitization, innovation, transformation, branding and marketing. He’s interested in the effect and impact of design and wants to bridge the ‘traditional gap’ between business (viability), technology (feasibility) and context/user (desirability). 
 Pieter sees creative thinking (and doing) as a smart way to approach the increased complexity and uncertainty that organizations are facing today. For years he applied design thinking methods to involve relevant stakeholders, disciplines and users, align them on the same page, deliver relevant insights and translate abstract concepts into concrete, tangible prototypes.
 His ambition is to stop ‘working in projects’ and start ‘thinking in products’. Ideally through a combination of an intensive, structural and iterative way of working (build, test, measure, learn), use qualitative and quantitative research and the set-up an OKR-approach (Objectives & Key Results, using sets of KPI’s).

 To make design work it needs inspiration, transpiration and... stamina! Network: Pieter is member of the board of Dutch Digital Agencies (DDA) as well as the NIMA Brand & Design Community. He is active in the European Creative Business Network (ECBN) and member of the Advisory Board of the Dutch Design Week (DDW). Besides this he is an experienced speaker, guest-lecturer, moderator and publicist on subjects such as innovation, UX/CX, digital transformation, design thinking and creative industries. Key competences: Consultancy (C-level), trusted advisory, consultive selling; Perform (qualitative) research, analyze outcomes and define insights into concrete (actionable) next steps; Define a digital strategy, translate it into a product vision, roadmap and program; (Digital) product management and product ownership; Innovation (research, agenda, roadmap, experiment, proof of concept); Curate and moderate workshops (strategy, design thinking); Manage expectations, align and inform stakeholders, build consensus and a shared vision.

    As part of a multidisciplinary team (Klantinzicht) I focus on improving the services, products and interactions of IND. IND acts in a complex context and interacts with a broad and diverse group of clients, employees and stakeholders. A clear focus on their needs, tasks and jobs to be done, as well as a user-centered approach are essential, aiming to deliver meaningful and relevant services. We combine expertises such as research, UX, CX, EX, service design and digital product development, in close collaboration with the digital strategy team, IT and the business. For the EU Immigration Pact I focus on the end-to-end service and interaction design, making sure this new asylum process will be developed in a design-oriented approach (discovery-define-validate).
