Pieter Ooms studeerde voor handelsingenieur en specialiseerde zich, na het behalen van zijn financiële master, verder in winkelvastgoed. Eens die master-na-master op zak, ging hij, na een jaar als bedrijfsrevisor bij PricewaterhouseCoopers, aan de slag bij een aantal grote spelers in de retail vastgoedsector om de kneepjes van het vak onder de knie te krijgen en zijn kennis van de sector te vergroten. Met succes, want in april 2013 zette hij samen met een privé-investeerder de stap om zijn eigen kantoor voor retailvastgoed op te zetten: The Retail Group.
The Retail Group houdt zich bezig met de aankoop, ontwikkeling, verhuur en verkoop van winkelvastgoed op AAA-locaties in en buiten de stadskern, verspreid over heel België.
