Rede Optimus Hospitalar was a European-Brazilian cooperation to develop a chain of future hospitals in Brazil. Future Rede Optimus' hospitals would be committed to achieve an unequalled level of integrity, compassion, quality and efficiency in the delivery of health services to its patients, their family and its community. In my role as Co-Founder I was responsible for: - development of strategy and Go-To-Market plan for new Healthcare Real Estate venture - building and managing high-performing team, with unique skillsets - setup of cross-border legal & tax structure - international fundraising, both public and private, with focus on development banks - partnership building and identifying acquisition targets, both greenfield and existing facilities - treasury management and burn rate monitoring - identifying and selecting partners for hospital architecture and design - negotiating contracts for healthcare equipment with major international players - understanding and monitoring (Brazilian) healthcare market - understanding day-to-day functioning of hospitals Due to extremely unfavourable macroeconomic- and political conditions in Brazil, a high burn rate and no clear indication of stabilisation, I decided to pull the plug early 2017.
