I am Pierre Lebrun, a full remote French engineer passionate about Kubernetes and cloud native technologies, specialized in multi-cloud as well as on-premise, air-gapped environments. I've lived in Japan for over a decade before moving back to France, together with my lovely wife and daughter. Throughout my career I evolved from a full-stack developer to a DevOps engineer, and eventually a site reliability engineer. Exploring the cloud native landscape became my passion as I never stop researching and experimenting the latest technologies and tools.
Led the deployment and management of Kubernetes clusters on both bare-metal and Google Cloud Platform, steering the company-wide migration from fragile legacy infrastructure to a modern, cloud-native ecosystem. I drove architectural decisions, tool selection, and rollout plans, ensuring the transition aligned with long-term scalability, security, and performance goals. Designed and implemented end-to-end CI/CD pipelines, reducing deployment time by over 90% and dramatically improving release reliability. Leveraging tools such as Argo CD and Argo Workflows, I introduced fully automated, auditable, and reproducible delivery processes, which became the foundation for all service deployments. Championed internal enablement by building comprehensive documentation and running hands-on workshops, ensuring rapid adoption of new practices across all engineering teams. I proactively trained engineers from multiple departments—including backend, data science, and frontend—on the usage of Kubernetes, GitOps, Helm, and automated workflows. These initiatives not only accelerated onboarding but also fostered a culture of shared ownership and platform maturity. Served as a key enabler in the company’s DevOps transformation, collaborating closely with senior leadership to align platform evolution with business growth and product delivery velocity.
Built and deployed high-performance web applications using Node.js and React, delivering scalable, maintainable solutions for core business needs. Led the shift from a monolithic architecture to microservices, redesigning service boundaries and deployment strategies to boost agility and team autonomy. Automated infrastructure provisioning on AWS and bare-metal, using Terraform, Packer, and VMware vSphere to ensure consistent, reliable environments. Pioneered the introduction of Kubernetes, establishing the foundation for modern service orchestration, improved system resilience, and faster delivery cycles.
