Paris, Île-de-France, France
After completing a dual masters degree in French and English law between Dublin and Paris, I decided to specialize in media and entertainment law during my masters degree at Université Paris II Panthéon Assas. After a six-month internship as an in-house legal counsel for CANAL+, I decided to deepen my knowledge of the media industry by completing the well-known Master DMC (Digital, Media and Cinema) at Université Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne. I was then able to join NBCUniversal's office in Paris as a Sales Assistant for the French and African markets. Afterwards, I joined the newly-founded SALTO - the ambitious French SVOD player founded by TF1, M6 and France Télévision - as an Assistant Buyer in the Foreign Content Department. I then worked for the next two years as a sales coordinator for Pathé Films and ended up back in an acquisitions position at Netflix.
In charge of distributing Pathé’s movie library (800+ titles) to TV broadcasters and streaming platforms (SVOD/TVOD/AVOD/FVOD). Also responsible for: keeping up to date our sales administration files, preparing our availabilities lists, attending relevant markets etc.
I interned within the foreign content acquisitions team at Salto. My missions included: - identifying TV Shows / Movies that might be relevant for our slate - contacting distributors in order to negotiate rights - supervising the drafting of our contracts
My main responsibilities included: - identifying content (movies, series, TV shows etc) that could suit potential broadcasters - preparing sales pitch - prospecting for new clients in France and Africa - checking the availability of licencing rights - assisting the preparation of international markets (LA Screenings, MIPCOM etc)
I took part in the drafting, negotiating and monitoring of rights acquisition contracts (executive production / co-production / pre-purchases etc.) as well as artists and authors contracts. I also took care of general legal research and wrote memos on topics of interest to the legal department.
