I am a Vietnamese undergraduate student at NTU in Singapore and have been working as a Teaching Assistant for students sitting for the Cambridge A Levels Examination, as well as a core translator at VALOMA. Having years of experience being the project lead of multiple events for organizations I volunteer for, I have had the chance to work with people from various backgrounds, allowing me to sharpen my leadership skills and decision-making skills. Being multilingual has also given me the opportunity to be the interpreter for international doctors and nurses in numerous hospitals in Vietnam, gaining a broader exposure to the healthcare industry and how science and technology can aid further developments in this sector. All of these have led me to become exposed to different fields, which drove my interest in working in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology professions.
- Served as primary contact for medical volunteers, including but not limited to surgeons, anesthesiologists, pediatricians and nurses, including remote and on-site medical professionals. - Assisted in selecting, delegating tasks and managing a pool of non-medical volunteers as needed per mission. - Sourced materials and labor to meet facility needs. - Assisted in taking care of patients pre-/post-operation with international team of medical professionals. - Became primary interpreter and translator in operating room and for administrative work with Operation Smile Headquarters. - Led groups of 70-80 volunteers on community service missions through central areas to provide surgeries for people with cleft lip and cleft palate. - Completed international missions to assist local people in learning about cleft lip and cleft palate from 2018 to 2020. - Created spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel for daily, weekly and monthly reporting.
- Lead a team of five individuals in securing sponsorships for various SBS welfare events, each typically accommodating an average of 300 attendees throughout the year. - Raised funds for a school club by selling merchandise and establishing partnerships with sponsors.
- Read given material and research industry-specific terminology - particularly in logistics and supply chain - Convert texts from one language to one or more others - Ensure translated content conveys original meaning and tone - Proofread translated texts of other members to ensure accuracy and precision - Follow up with internal team members and clients to ensure translation meets their needs - Edit content to maintain its original format (e.g. font and structure) - Network with field experts to stay current on new translation tools and practices
