I am a hardworking student currently studying Politics, English Literature, and History, with a strong interest in pursuing a career in law or alternatively international relations. These subjects have helped me develop my analytical, communicative, and research skills and I am keen to continue developing these skills further.
I also currently work as a food runner, ensuring dishes are delivered efficiently while maintaining high service standards. This role has strengthened my ability to work under pressure, communicate effectively with colleagues, and be versatile by confidently supporting both the food runner and hosting roles when required.
I completed multiple days worth of work experience at Wilkes Law Firm, where I gained first hand experience into a range of legal practice areas, including Family Law, Property Litigation, Corporate Law, and Real Estate. Throughout the placement, I shadowed solicitors, observed client meetings, assisted with legal research and administrative tasks, and developed a greater understanding of how legal matters progress in a professional environment. This experience strengthened my analytical thinking, attention to detail, and communication skills, while reinforcing my ambition to pursue a career in law and providing valuable insight into the variation of different law careers available.
As a Routes to Professions (R2P) student at the University of Birmingham, I have developed a deeper understanding of the legal profession through a range of academic and enrichment opportunities. These have included shadowing a university law lecture, completing summer academic work, attending multiple legal conventions, and learning from guest speakers such as Dr Marianne Wade, further strengthening my interest in pursuing a career in law.
Throughout 2024, I completed a range of tasks to earn a place on the University of Birmingham Summer School program, culminating in a four-night residential stay. This experience gave me valuable insight into university life, allowing me to experience a range of academic lectures and gain a deeper understanding of how a university operates on a day-to-day basis. It also further strengthened my enthusiasm for higher education and developing my academic interests.
