Vortex Metal Manufacturing is a leading manufacturer of rectangular and spiral ductwork in Central Virginia. From off-the-shelf to custom fabrication, Vortex provides the highest quality product that meets or exceeds industry standards. A unique order process allows for quick lead times, and their customer solutions are designed to save installation time in the field. As Project Manager, I was head of client relations for active projects, filling the important role of post-sale support. I oversaw the spooling process, which involved value-added services such as pre-fabrication consultation and the generating of piece-marked drawings. And was heavily involved in logistics planning, both scheduling time-sensitive smaller deliveries as well as coordinating dozens of tractor trailer deliveries over a period of months. I excelled at performing detailed job audits with the express purpose of uncovering change orders. My knowledge and expertise, as well as years of field experience, make me adept at interpreting construction drawings and specifications. I could easily prove whether individual orders were a part of the originally proposed scope of work. This led to the billing of, in one case, $30,000 of material that had been wrongly allocated as part of the initial contract. If you value attention to detail and a mind for projects influenced by time spent in field installation, please reach out and set up a time that we can further discuss what I can offer your company.

    • Estimator
      Oct 2022 - Dec 2023 · 1 yr 3 mos

As a member of the Estimating department, I utilized Trimble Autobid Sheet Metal for the onscreen takeoff of construction drawings that were used to generate material cost. These takeoffs incorporated all construction specifications as well as specific customer requests. Along with being heavily involved in job estimates, I also created production schedules for projects under contract. These detailed spool sheets were then used by the Inside Sales staff to input for production. While doing this, I was tasked with auditing the work of other estimators in order to ensure quality control of estimates and generate process improvements. I was able, through studying Vortex's process, to better align the onscreen takeoff process with SMACNA standards. This fixed discrepancies and created cost reduction that resulted in more accurate pricing and, potentially, far more successful projects for years to come. If you value creative problem solving and an analytical mind, contact me and allow me to speak with you about the benefits I bring to any position.

Their Major Projects division participates in the plan and specification open-market bidding process, allowing them to successfully manage the HVAC and plumbing portions of projects ranging from small-budget renovations to large-scale ground-up facilities. As a member of the Pre-construction department I worked with a team to prepare estimates incorporating material and labor costs that were used in the bidding process. I became skilled at evaluating subcontractor and vendor scopes with the goal of confirming full coverage of the Division 22 and Division 23 requirements for projects bid. For this, we utilized the Procore platform, which I was in charge of curating, to file share and solicit pricing. I became proficient at Trimble Autobid Sheet Metal software, which was used to determine material and labor costs for a majority of work we bid. Along with my estimating duties, I also oversaw the bulk of the administrative and clerical duties for the department. And assisted in the Manpower Forecasting for active projects throughout the company.
