I work with the product owner, a developer, and a project manager to improve and maintain the company's internal, federated search engine. Some of my responsibilities are to: • Monitor the use of the company’s internal search tool via metrics. • Create custom results for high-volume queries based on reports. • Adjust search algorithms to ensure users get relevant results. • Research enhancements and confirm improvements via data analysis. • Work with vendor to configure new features and resolve bugs. • Plan and conduct testing to evaluate usability and confirm functionality.
Working with communications office of the NCAOC, I contributed to the development of the judicial branch’s intranet. As a Web content intern, I identified and created content for division landing pages, migrated and tagged content from the old intranet, and researched Drupal modules needed to adapt legacy content and forms. I also created text and image guidelines, Workbench instructions, and resources to help contributors create content that fit the intranet’s tone and structure.
I worked with the communications director on external communications campaigns to promote the organization’s work, including: blog posts, email newsletters, pamphlets, and reports. I handled website change requests, created instructions for internally created Web applications, wrote website content for DELTA and a featured distance education program, and edited various publications. I also pitched a new, condensed format for the 2011-2012 DELTA annual report. Once it was approved, I coordinated the development of each section’s content.
I primarily worked as an arborist, climbing, pruning, and caring for trees. I also collected information and assisted with written reports. I used three models of tomography devices to send stress waves through tree trunks, and the accompanying software to analyze the data and reveal the inner tree anatomy. I also collected and analyzed population data using a tree inventory program, and implemented support, lightning protection, and tree growth regulation systems. I also took photographs for and reviewed magazine articles and reports for clients, assisted with public relations, and created media for presentations at conferences and other training sessions on the science and practice of tree care. To support the company's visibility, I developed and launched a website. The business owner and I collaborated on the site's strategy and complementing Facebook presence. After the site was launched, I trained the owner on how to update the website as needed.
