This was done following the system engineering method. I worked in a multi- disciplinary team that consisted of electrical engineers, a software engineer, a mechanical designer and a mechanical engineer. Other responsibilities included discovery of requirements, concept design and verification that ended up in lower level requirements. During the concept phase computer models were made in the scientific disciplines of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, control theory and dynamics. These models were verified by performing experiments. The detailed design was made in collaboration with the mechanical designer and then outsourced to a supplier.

    I wrote my MSc thesis in the team responsible for the control strategy of hybrid electric vehicles. I did research on the difference in fuel consumption between driving with a constant speed and an alternative driving technique. By optimizing this driving technique I achieved a reduction in fuel consumption of maximally 30%.
