Recruited specifically to develop, build and launch ‘The eXellerator’ - Standard Chartered Bank’s Group Innovation function responsible for driving the banks innovation agenda across all lines of business – Retail, Wealth, Business, Commercial and Institutional Banking. The role is based in Singapore but supports all 48 countries in the bank’s footprint including strategic markets such as Hong Kong, and India. The role is also responsible for leading one of the longest established innovation hubs by an overseas bank in San Francisco/Silicon Valley (SC Studios). Established a physical ‘lab’ space in Marina Bay Financial Centre, Singapore. Built trusted relationships with senior stakeholders in IT, functional business leaders and country/regional C-suite executives. Managed the relationship between the bank and numerous regulators to actively support their innovation agendas, Proof of Concepts and align with the needs of the bank. Developed a unique playbook to rapidly explore business/client problems/opportunities that can be quickly replicated i.e. at country/regional level as required. Aligned a complex matrix of stakeholders to create a ‘safe harbor’ to rapidly test, prototype and launch solutions to clients under 90 days. Exposed staff globally to new ways of working including Design Thinking and helped foster innovation as part of the corporate culture. Created ‘Pop-Up’ eXellerator labs in multiple countries to help solve local opportunities as well as building and leaving capability ‘in country’. Led the banks engagement with the FinTech Start-Up communities with numerous accelerator programs focused on start-ups that help address specific bank opportunities. Regular international keynote speaker and panelist representing the bank on FinTech strategy and innovation – including numerous private events with the bank’s highest net worth clients. Built a team of top global talent from Singapore, Australia, France, US, and the UK to join the core team.
‘The Garage’ is at the heart of helping Westpac think and act as Australia’s oldest start-up – to adapt to the changing demands of customers and face into broad disruption across the financial services industry. It is an extreme accelerator of change which starts with customer centred design and operates with real time decision-making. A unique toolkit, start-up mindset, lean governance combined with a mandate to challenge and disrupt the status quo are some of the ways The Garage delivers solutions in 90 day capability drops. AFS Change Delivery & Integration is the business unit responsible for successfully managing change delivery of project investments across the Australian Financial Services Group which includes Westpac, St George, Bank of Melbourne, BankSA, Rams and BT Financial Group. The Change Delivery Practice comprises around 140 Change Management, HR, Communications and L&D professionals responsible supporting the Product, Risk, Business Banking Transformation, Digital Marketing & Customer Contact Centres and Distribution Portfolios in the AFS Program Delivery & Governance function. The Change Delivery Practice is also for supporting programs in BTFG and other major transformations programs such as Branch Simplification and Radical Paper Reduction Program.
Responsible for leading change across the Digital Transformation, Payments, & Products portfolio of Australian Financial Services (AFS) division.
