More than anything, I like to make things. I enjoy bringing things to life with brilliant people. Regardless of the medium, software or channel - I believe in being a craftsman and executing against a vision. This belief has taken me to some amazing places and connected me with some incredible people. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Masters in Medical Illustration and Design in 1999. From there I was swept up into the world of the first dot com explosion. I survived the collapse, making my way through design firms and agencies large and small and in 2010 I decided to start my own digital and design agency. Four years ago I started an interactive firm called the Material Group. My partner and I grew it organically without one dime of funding. Within one year we were roughly 23 full time people doing business with partners all over the country. We sat on two gorgeous floors of loft space in the West Loop of Chicago, crafting apps, websites, content and kiosks. In 2013 we successfully sold the firm. I am still obsessed with design and the making of things and most importantly the journey and people involved in it all.
