Managing the Fleet Engineering Team for South Western Railways (SWR) Managing a team of Fleet and Specialist Engineers to ensure the safe implementation of modifications, vehicles maintenance instructions as well as review high risk defects across the SWR fleet.
Responsible for ensuring safety and reliability issues are identified, investigated and addressed in order to maintain the safe and reliable performance of Great Western Railway's High Speed Train (HST), Class 57 locos, Night Riviera Sleeper, HST Barrier and 08 Pilot Fleet. Also responsible for reviewing all modifications for this fleet ensuring they are compliant to Group Standards and implemented to comply with GWR's safety case. 305 coaches (going down), 76 Power Cars (also going down), 4 Locomotives, 2 Barriers and 9 Pilots.
Developing in-house testing of electrical/electronic components for rolling stock. Develop new electrical systems for existing rolling stock including selective door opening, crew communications and PA. Improve reliability of existing systems including WSP, traction control, auxiliary supplies, central door locking and now catering converters!
Project management of refurbishment of electronic control system for various UK train operating companies.
