Peter Van Dyke is CEO and a founding partner of VVK, where he oversees business strategy and growth and remains actively engaged in the agency’s public relations services. Under Peter’s leadership, VVK has grown to nearly 30 team members and expanded its reach from a strong Michigan base to a national footprint. This growth includes leading the acquisition of Stern Strategy Group’s public relations division, establishing VVK as a nationally recognized PR firm with a presence on the East Coast. The agency serves a diverse roster of clients ranging from local nonprofits to global corporations. Under Peter’s leadership, VVK has earned multiple honors, including recognition as one of Michigan’s 50 Companies to Watch by Michigan Celebrates Small Business, designation as a Corps! Diversity-Focused Company, and selection as a Best of Michigan Business honoree for marketing and public relations. A Detroit resident, Peter is deeply committed to supporting and investing in his local community. He serves as chair of the Board of Visitors for Wayne State University’s College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts, secretary of the board for Detroit Public Theatre, and a member of the board of directors for the Wayne State University Foundation. He also serves on the executive committee of PRSA’s Counselors Academy section and is chairing its 2027 national conference. His leadership and community impact have been widely recognized. Peter has received Wayne State University’s Alumni Achievement in Public Relations award and was honored as the university’s Distinguished Volunteer at the 2024 National Philanthropy Day Awards Dinner, hosted by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Greater Detroit Chapter. In 2022, Peter was selected for the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Young American Leaders Program at Harvard Business School.
Peter Van Dyke served as CEO of Van Dyke Horn for six years where he led a 14-person team to provide strategic communications services to the company’s 30-plus clients, which range from global corporations to local charitable organizations. After acquiring the company, Peter led Van Dyke Horn's business strategy, client relations and new business, which resulted in the firm more than tripling its revenue. Peter is a Detroit resident and deeply involved in serving his local community. He is chair of the board of visitors for Wayne State University’s College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts, and on the boards the Detroit Public Theatre, chairing its nominating and governance committee, and the Marche du Nain Rouge, as its treasurer. He is also an honorary board member for the Detroit Artists Market. Additionally, in 2016, Peter developed a scholarship at his alma mater, Wayne State University, to honor Van Dyke Horn agency founders Bob Berg and Georgella Muirhead. The scholarship supports the advancement of minority public relations students. Peter has received several awards and recognitions, including Crain's Detroit Business's “40 under Forty” and "20 in their Twenties,” D Business Magazine’s “30 in their Thirties,” Detroit Young Professionals’ (DYP) Vanguard Leadership Award, WDIV-TV’s “I Have the Drive.” He graduated with honors with a bachelor’s degree in public relations from Wayne State University, where he started the school’s Public Relations Student Society of America chapter and received the college’s Jeanine Gregory Award for Public Relations Leadership. Additionally, under his leadership, Van Dyke Horn has been noted by the Small Business Association of Michigan as one of the 2019 “50 Companies to Watch in Michigan” and by Corp! Magazine as a “Diversity Focused Company” and as a “Best of Michigan Business.”
Managed local, state-wide national and international media relations for the museum’s exhibitions, programs, renovation and reinstallation, and events. Collaborated with marketing department to develop campaigns. Produced visitor communication materials. Monitored and wrote copy for the museum’s Web site. Composed speaking points and remarks for the museum’s curators and executive staff. Appointed to the museum’s Museum Shop Advisory Board, Program Review Committee, and the marketing department’s renovation and reinstallation team.
