Dr. Peter Robbins is one of Ireland’s foremost experts in innovation and new product and service development. He is a former Global Director of Innovation Excellence for GSK. His area of research is how firms organize for innovation. He was head of the Department of Design Innovation in Maynooth University until January 2019 when he joined DCU's growing Business School. He has published in the Journal of Product Innovation Management, R&D Management (where he serves on the Editorial Review Board) the Journal of Small Business & Entrepreneurship, the Irish Journal of Management, International Journal of Innovation Management, London Strategy Review. He regularly speaks at international conferences and corporate events on the subject of managing creativity and innovation. His particular expertise is in Design Thinking. His profile is unique among Irish academics, having worked in his field at a global level in a top 3 pharma company before completing a doctorate and moving to academia. Peter lectures in the DCU Business School where he is a member of the National Centre for Family Business and is jointly leading a new research sub-group on Innovation & Technology.
Working as Associate Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in DCU. I am programme chair for our Masters in Insight & Innovation (run in conjunction with Bord Bia) and Chair of our Bachelor Degree in Marketing, Innovation and new Technology (MINT). I research, write, consult and lecture on the topics of creativity, design thinking and corporate innovation.

The Diploma in Strategy & Innovation has become amongst the biggest selling and most popular programmes in the IMI. I lecture on all elements of innovation on this programme as well as on other custom programmes for corporate clients.
Currently Head of Ireland's only academic department of Design Innovation. We deliver four degree programmes: two undergraduate and two masters'. We have a very successful programme in Product Design, a four-year BSc degree that teaches the skills of innovation, design, engineering, business and marketing. We have a degree in Entrepreneurship which focuses less on spreadsheets and more on novel, original, commercial ideas and business models. We have an award winning MSc in Design Innovation where we welcome students from various companies from various SMEs and from HP, Veolia, ESB, Intel, Pfizer and many other companies. We also deliver, in conjunction with Bord Bia, Ireland's only MSc in Food Innovation where we work with Nestle and Deloitte - as well as all the big names in the Food and Drink industry. We are very enthusiastic about working with real company projects and we have delivered great projects to some wonderful organisations.
NUI Maynooth is Ireland's only university with a department of Design & Innovation. The department specialises in Creativity, Innovation, Design, Entrepreneurship and Marketing.
