Decades in industry have sharpened more than just my technical skills—they’ve honed my instinct, deepened my pattern recognition, and shaped a philosophy rooted in precision, resilience, and craftsmanship. I’ve mastered not only the science of software engineering, but the art of it—understanding that great systems are built as much with experience and foresight as with code. I recognize traps before they're triggered and build solutions that last. From scaling enterprise architectures to mentoring the next generation of developers, I thrive where depth meets pragmatism. My strength lies in navigating ambiguity, translating technical vision into business value, and making decisions that withstand the test of time. In an industry racing toward the next big thing, I help teams focus on the right thing.

Accountable for design, implementation, and exploitation of specialized industrial information systems and technologies to support our mining and processing operations. Founded a team that grew from 3 to 218 exceptional specialists and engineers. Secondees from our team formed the core of Teck's RACE21 digital transformation.
Responsible for delivery, integration and support of real-time mining and processing information technologies at Teck's surface mines in Canada, Chile, and USA. (coal, copper, zinc) Our team designed and deployed a centrally managed and security-segmented WiFi network covering 450 km^2 of mountainous terrain across Teck's mining operations. An open-standard segmented network with quality of service is rare in an industry dominated by OEM turn-key solutions.
Led the design and delivery of a converged ruggedized computing platform and network router for mining equipment. Worked with the vendor to ensure that the product was made COTS and widely adopted. Value is created by the in-situ rapid adoption of best-in-class new technologies including tire monitoring, onboard machine diagnostics, collision avoidance, fatigue monitoring and fleet management. Development of a business-driven mine-to-port rail planning and logistics system for the coal business unit incorporating outbound trains, customer vessels, and projected clean coal inventories at port in an integrated solution. Design and delivery of a world-class drilling and blasting information system for the coal business unit. This unique life-cycle tool creates value through improved dig-ability and reduced coal dilution.
Recruited and managed a team of 25 exceptional software engineers. Led the analysis, architecture, design, implementation and delivery of the Iris Network Management product for the Canadian Department of National Defense according to MIL STD 2167A. Managed the customer's expectations apprising them of status, achievements, concerns, and issues. Key member of the task force directing the company’s accelerated effort to reach SEI CMM Level 2. Initiated and moderated study groups in GUI design and in object-oriented software engineering.
