Supports the Technical Product Development group to maintain and enhance existing products to ensure components are compliant, functional, and reliable. This includes providing mechanical engineering expertise in reviewing drawings, creating manufacturing operating instructions, designing fixtures, and validating/verifying equipment. Key Accomplishments: • Designed new syringe assembly to be used on the Alinity and Architect instruments that extended product lifespans and reducing annual replacement costs • Provided engineering manufacturing support for the Alinity S instrument throughout the different development phases (EP, VP, and PR) • Lead cable localization project and achieved approximately $300,000 in cost savings. • Transitioned machined components to an oversea supplier while maintaining quality expectations. • Aided redesign of a hopper design which greatly reduced the number of failures observed in the field. • Designed, programmed and validated a gravimetric syringe test fixture to support testing of a key component of the instrument.
Designed, managed, and detailed a wide range of food processing equipment projects using Solidworks. This included the use of finite element software to identify potential stress concentrations and machine natural frequencies issues. Worked closely with the management team in developing new commercial products to help reach Meyer Industry’s Corporate Growth Goals. Led a team of junior engineers through the design and detail of custom machines, fixtures, tooling and products for the automotive, aviation, medical, and military industry using Solidworks.
