Stuttgart, January 2024: Peter Steinhagen, German national, Dipl.-Ing. (Civil Engineer, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, KIT, 1979), MSc (Construction Law and Dispute Resolution, King’s College London, KCL, 2017), 40 years of experience in construction, Germany and abroad. Worked for major German contractors, International Joint Ventures in expert and management positions, Germany, Africa, Asia, South America, Middle East and South-Eastern Europe. Was involved in a variety of projects: large dams, river and water engineering, ports and special foundations projects, big buildings. Representative of a German major contractor for Latin America, expert in dam and river engineering, lived 7ys. in South America. Fluent in German, Spanish, English; basic knowledge of French. Special knowledge in contract management, FIDIC Red, Yellow Books. FIDIC certified adjudicator assessment (2010, VBI, Germany). 10 years head of business development, company representative for closing out, dispute resolution tasks, several major overseas projects incl. arbitration proceedings in Asia. Along with professional assignments, engaged in voluntary functions, lecturing International Construction Management (University of Stuttgart, since 2019 and University of Applied Sciences Constance, since 2013) and standardisation activities for BIM at ISO, CEN, DIN, VDI since 2014. Since 1992 honorary member of VDI, German Association of Engineers, 2007-2020 board member of VDI-Society for Civil Engineering and Building Services, 2015-2020 chairman of VDI Construction Technology Division. Initiated, lead and contributed to major VDI-initiatives and standardisation projects like Public Engagement in Critical Infrastructure Projects, set up German standardisation works for BIM through VDI-standards, developed Lean Construction standards at VDI, initiated and co-founded BIM Cluster BW. After retirement, since March 2019, continuing to lecture International Construction Management at University of Stuttgart and University of Applied Sciences Constance (until August 2024), and providing consultancy and expert services (Business Strategy, Project Management and Dispute Resolution).

Special assignments: Major projects for international clients in Germany. US Governmental projects in Germany. Dispute resolution activities including arbitration related to finished infrastructure projects in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia, and Butterworth, Penang, Malaysia.
Special assignments: Frequent task force mission to major construction projects located in the UAE (Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah). Closing out and dispute resolution activities of international projects in Vietnam and Malaysia. Implementation of risk management systems, methods & tools for critical projects, both at company and project level.
Special assignments: Strategic developments in South Eastern European countries. Liaison to EU, Governments, IFIs, Industrial. & Business Associations. Activities related to M&A operations in South Eastern Europe and Germany.
