  • Yield Engineer -> Defect Analysis Consultant at Intel
    Jul 2000 - Jun 2009 · 9 yrs

Owned critical stages of a multi-million dollar process, analysing data to identify quality issues, leading cross-functional teams in the suspect areas to contain, root cause and implement preventative actions. • Led multiple teams, including high level Task Forces, ensuring all current issues were being addressed and long term improvement projects are developed and implemented in time. • Chaired a forum of international engineers charged with sharing key learning’s & optimizing cross-factory procedures. • Recognizing a gap in daily procedures, worked with IT to develop a SQL system which provided standardized data in a fraction of the time. This tool was proliferated to other groups, resulting in a much quicker response time to issues. • Characterized the quality performance of a toolset throughout its Preventative Maintenance cycle, enabling it to double its cycle, saving $20,000 per week. • Saved $80,000 per week by performing risk analysis, then optimizing the sampling methodology used to determine the health of the product inline – assumed ownership of the sampling system. • Streamlined inline Response Flow Charts for technicians to follow more easily while all non-value-added steps were removed, resulting in a 50% reduction in the number of steps required to complete disposition of product. • Solved a long-standing mismatch to “Best In Class” performance in “Blocked Hardmask Etch” defects to SIM toolset through segmentation to isolate the toolset responsible, worked with this area to troubleshoot and implement short term containments until long term solution was implemented. Additionally, two other areas no longer suffered needless downtime – saving an S10,000 per week. • Root-caused a major mismatch to “Best In Class” performance by the “Poly Rocks” defects to VFP toolset – due to financial restrictions preventing the implementation of corrective parts, innovative preferential product loading techniques were employed as a containment.
