Peter P. McNamara serves as defense and coverage counsel to America’s major insurance companies. Over the course of more than 30 years in practice, Peter has litigated complex coverage and bad faith disputes in state and federal courts throughout the United States and has represented clients in arbitration and mediation. Peter regularly represents health insurers in connection with issues including individual health plan benefits litigation, group health plans governed by ERISA, healthcare provider disputes, and fraud claims. He represents and counsels clients in connection with health and managed care, environmental, asbestos, toxic tort, products liability, and first party property disputes. He also serves as defense counsel in employment discrimination, defamation, and other tort suits. In addition, he regularly represents title insurers in real estate title disputes. Peter has spoken at the New York State Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association, and the Suffolk County Academy of Law. He also has participated in presentations for the private sector on a variety of topics, including insurance coverage and bad faith issues, and has written numerous articles on a variety of insurance-related issues. Peter has served as a member of the Nassau County Bar Association’s Committee on Professional Ethics and currently serves as Volunteer Legal Counsel to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Suffolk County, Inc. Peter was named among the Top Rated Attorneys in Nassau and Suffolk Counties by PULSE magazine for 2013 in healthcare law. He has received the AV PreeminentTM rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
