The Franke Institute primarily works to bring together researchers from all departments in The University of Chicago. The institute hosts Forums, funding for research, meetings and seminars, and promotes an environment and a networking hub through which academics in various research fields can come together in order to collaborate, cooperate, and discuss. In that pursuit, the Institute requires a steady and reliable staff in order to provide a streamlined service for the many different fields of research and events it inspires and hosts. The project assistant position entails helping to plan and coordinate weekly lunches, lectures, receptions, and several-day conferences; contact participants; arrange publicity, travel, food and lodging; staff events during regular work hours and some after hour events; collect and edit copy for annual newsletters. Also involved in promoting Institute contacts on and off-campus through weblogs, social media sites, humanities division wiki sites, filemaker databases, and publicity materials.
Clerk position entailed doing transcriptions of audio files, taking notes during depositions, writing summaries of statements and interactions, taking and making calls, assisting in organization of case files and taking critical shorthand notes during teleconferences, doing research for various projects and cases, as well as compilation of required and necessary information for upcoming cases. Also involved in observing, organizing, and production of material / documents during depositions and meetings.
