As a teacher of English and head of the English Department my job requires not only multiple aspects of and attitude towards the methodology of teaching the language but also a certain kind of modern vision of it all, which I continuously aim to improve in order to be ready to fulfil the needs of students with different interest, knowledge and skills.
QA is a very complex field and even more complex in public education. My task is to prepare, manage, conduct and evaluate the process of quality assurance and to prepare the system suitable for both the institution and the outer expectations as well. It is also important to prepare my colleagues for the teacher evaluation process made by the state taking all the personal and moral values into consideration.
As a form teacher I am responsible for not only the educational but the personal development of the students providing the best methods possible to meet their special needs.
Management and authority are sensitive fields, even so when it comes to public education. Preparing the whole curriculum and have a systematic view of the past, present and future expectations of language learning meeting the institutional and governmental expectations in a way that mainly focuses on the student is almost impossible. I can only do it with the people around me - my colleagues who are determined to provide students not only the knowledge but the way of thinking built on students' skills that is important to learn the language in a mutually designed and followed way. My task is to harmonize the decisions and giving professional and legal guidelines.
Being a teacher is a profession with a high demand of devotion and sacrifice for a long term investment. I do believe teachers can make children's or teenagers' life different by forming the views, attitude, focus and by encouraging them to develop their critical thinking and problem solving strategies. I have a great experience in both the language and the teaching part, however, I still have the inner force to improve personally, methodologically and find innovative ways for motivating students and my colleagues as well. Teaching is continuous learning, which we must never forget.
