I’m Senior Architectural Technologist, but my experience goes far beyond that of a technologist, covering the full scope of the architectural field. My experience covers from stage 1 through to stage 6 of the architectural work stages. This included work on international projects, including site visits and meetings in Mauritius on large resort, and the 2nd highest building in Africa in - in Kenya, at over 200m, the 2nd official skyscraper in Africa. and local council challenges, etc. Buildings I’ve worked on include residential (single and multi unit), leisure, educational, health, correctional services, retail, industrial, interiors, offices, skyscrapers, high rises, churches, industrial installations, etc. I am also a Green Star SA Accredited Professional and also served on the sub-committee (SC59Q) that wrote Part S of SANS 10400, as well as all other universal access and universal design in the built environment. I also lectured part time at UJ for three years. I’ve also trained fellow colleagues at the offices and at Cat 1 CPD lectures, Spoke at conferences, locally and overseas on various topics (energy efficiency, sustainable design). I am also actively involved in happenings in the South African Architectural Profession, by reading publications, and subbmittiing comments or objections to attempt to ensure the profession, ALL, are treated correctly, and with respect, while keeping to the letter of the law.. Project Architect on 2nd highest building in Africa at the moment, as well as well as another 19 storey high, 4 basement office block. All happening in Kenya. Amazing opportunity and experience working on these buildings. I think I must write a book about it. Lessons to learn from this one.. Yikes..
