Experienced structural engineer in the field of railways, ropeways and amusement rides.
Structural engineer responsible for the strength assessment of railway vehicles and their components, e.g: - motor and trailer bogie frame of a high-speed train (360 km/h) - bogie frame for a Co'Co' diesel locomotive - strength assessment and manufacturing support for a suspended monorail - failure analysis of broken bogie frames and design of repair solutions Technical expert mechanical for the conformity assessment of IC's (Interoperability Components) Project leader for medium sized projects
Mechanical design of an innovative current measuring device for railway applications
As a team leader in structure mechanics I was responsible for: - strength assessment of ropeway components (cabins, traction wheels, rope clamps) - structural design and optimization of civil engineering structures (stations and towers) - strength assessment of civil engineering structures according to Eurocode 3 and SIA 260 - rope calculation and continuous development of the BMF rope calculation software - multi-body simulation of dynamic effects such emergency braking due to failure of the traction rope
Activities as design engineer: - Development of design concepts for bogies and components with Catia V4/V5 Activities as structural engineer: - Generate load assumptions for bogies and components, based on standards and measurements - Structural analysis of bogie frames and components with the FE software MSC Patran/Nastran - Fatigue evaluation of highly stressed welded steel structures - Nonlinear FE calculations of bogie components, such as anti-roll-bar, wheel press fit, rubber spring elements (nonlinear material properties and contact problems) - Strength assessment of bolted connections according to VDI 2230 - 3 months exchange at Bombardier Derby UK
