My research focused on understanding the biological distinctions between different EGFR mutations in order to improve treatment options for patients with these mutations. Communication Skills • Co-authored 4 publications • Successfully applied for conference travel grant • Regularly present research as presentations and posters at institute-wide seminars/meetings as well as at internal lab meetings and journal clubs Leadership Skills • Directly supervised and managed research projects for 2 MSc students from Imperial College, London, including reviewing draft dissertations and viva presentations prior to submission • Established collaborations to introduce new techniques to my lab • Worked simultaneously across multiple projects autonomously and as part of a team, prioritising work to meet deadlines and contributing to team leadership • Negotiated and co-ordinated the purchase of laboratory equipment and consumables • Managed laboratory meetings schedules, budgets, and consumables expenditure (up to £90k) Laboratory Skills • Extensive cell culture experience, including: stable cell line generation using retroviral and lentiviral systems; genetic modulation using RNAi and CRISPR techniques; assessment of pharmacological compounds using cell viability assays; 3D cell culture • Analysis of proteins by immuno-precipitation and Western blotting • Molecular cloning techniques to analyse, generate, and modify plasmids • Contributed to additional research projects ongoing in the laboratory, including studying the spatiotemporal localisation of DDR2 following stimulation with collagen
• Writing of reports and preparation of figures for presentations to commercial partners. • Involved with multiple projects across different disciplines. • Isolation and structural elucidation of bioactive phytochemicals by activity-guided fractionation and NMR. • Statistical metabolomics using R and data mining software. • Preparation and analysis of samples by LC-MS/MS and HPLC-DAD/ELSD. • Assessment of the biological activities of plant and fungi extracts. • Training of new students in laboratory techniques. • General laboratory maintenance.
