Perth, Western Australia, Australia
Technology leader with over a decade of experience spanning cyber security, operations, and enterprise technology. My career began as an analyst with the Department of Defence, specialising in Cyber Security and Maritime Intelligence, before moving into enterprise operations management and now serving as a Technology Site Specialist at Fortescue Metals Group. I bring expertise in scaling architectures, enhancing site operations, and delivering innovative solutions—from cyber resilience through to remote mining operations in some of the toughest environments in Western Australia and beyond. Within Fortescue, the exploration team benefits from my strategic oversight in technology deployment and safety protocol enhancement. Our collective efforts have led to the successful implementation of remote operations in the harshest WA environments, showcasing a commitment to innovative solutions and project delivery. This blend of technical acumen and leadership underpins my contribution to our team's success and the broader organisational mission.
I am currently undertaking a leadership position where I perform, support and troubleshoot complex technical investigations to identify system and design standards and performance parameters for Telstra networks, infrastructure, products and services. For the delivery of the Defence Terrestrial Communications Network, I handle tasks such as triaging of faults and incidents on all network classifications. Project management was also part of my role. As such, I lead the deployment team on on-site processes, providing VIP support, engaging with customers and coordinating adds, moves and changes. Additionally, I act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all defence networks on site throughout both the metro and remote areas in WA. Throughout my role, I provide insight, analysis and maintenance of technical and procedural documentation to ensure optimal delivery of services.
In my first role in Telstra, I worked in a team of three technicians to service a local population of 15,000 in Port Hedland/South Hedland, as well as the surrounding Pilbara area and provide Telstra services. This included the delivery of a range of services, including basic service installations through to advanced business installations such as CISCO routers, switches, video conferencing suites and full digital communication suites. This role required me to participate in the upgrades of copper networks in remote and challenging locations when required. I also maintained network through diagnoses, troubleshooting and repair of outages, testing network backup procedures and updating documentation. Moreover, I provided high-level customer service, responding to client enquiries, concerns and issues in a timely manner.
As an Electronic Warfare Analyst, I supervised a team of ten staff members to collect, disseminate and report on intelligence through the operation of sonar and radar, information networks and combat data systems whilst onboard a warship. Utilising my technical leadership skills, I managed operation of a range of active and passive sensors, other sonar equipment, radars, networks, weapons and combat data systems. With a priority to accuracy and timeliness, I gathered, analysed and reported on information regarding the detection and assessment of submarines or surface vessels. This role also required me to oversee a $300k suite of communication equipment, including satellite phones and laptops as required. Additionally, I performed ad hoc responsibilities as Combat First Aider, Standing Sea Fire Brigade member and Ships Intelligence Team Leader and Manager.
